shipping muse.

We've been working on a few projects with a local company who develops modern housing from shipping containers (just finished their letterpress business cards). I must admit it always surprises me how awesome shipping container dwellings can be -- this modern home is a good example.

White, nature & water - love it. I am still working on defining my own personal style. I do tend to lean towards simplicity. Hopefully in the next coming months my home will be at a point where I can share some before and afters. I would love some input from all you lovelies. Enjoy the long weekend. .

indoor/outdoor.

My husband and I have been house-hunting for about 4 months now, but I've recently decided I'd like these architects to design one for us. Maybe they'd give me a discount for being Swedish?

I'm in San Diego for a few days with my favorite people. Hoping to make a field trip out to the Salk Institute by Louis Kahn.

Pictures here. Also loved this movie by his son.

I just recently purchased and moved into a new home - total fixer upper. I am very excited and overwhelmed. Wishing I could escape to Bali for a week or so.

I also paid close attention to the modern architecture. Ever since I was reprogrammed at ASU's college of design I see things completely differently. It's fun to go home and look around with an entirely new perspective.

And below an all time favorite which I appreciate even more now - The Bacardi Building by Enrique Guitierrez.

I wish Phoenix wasn't so hot, so that I could spend my summers on a beautiful patio. Any of these would do just fine.

Love how this Takao Shiotsuka home seems to be peering over the fence at passerby.
(The view's not too shabby, either.)

the watershed.

The Watershed: an off-the-grid writer’s retreat in Wren, Oregon. This little studio was designed by Erin Moore for her mother, a professor who writes about nature.

I'm imagining how nice it would be to sit there, surrounded by that scenery, and just spend a few days writing.

seamless space.

It's not hard to see why this space is the Met home of the month for July/August 2009. The interior design works flawlessly with the architecture, and every single detail is gorgeous.
