seesaw: day trip to arcosanti.

This week, SeeSaw took a day trip to Arcosanti for some creative inspiration. It's an experimental town in the Arizona desert, built to embody Paolo Soleri's concept of arcology - the fusion of architecture with ecology.

We all agreed it was pretty amazing and beautiful. It would be a neat experience to live/work there for a few weeks (they offer various workshops) or even just stay overnight.

be our neighbor!

Local friends, are you looking for a studio space? Our building has a few vacancies right now, and we'd love to have some awesome neighbors who are creatively inclined. We're near old town Scottsdale in a mid-century building with big windows. Added bonus: a three minute drive from Fashion Square, Sprinkles, Yogurtland and more :)

If you're interested, email us for additional information at hello{at}seesawdesigns{dot}com.

ann bonfoey taylor.

For her birthday, I'm taking my mom to brunch at one of our favorite local restaurants (which also happens to be our client), and then to "Fashion Independent: The original Style of Anne Bonfoey Taylor" at the Phoenix Art Museum.

There have been a lot of new boutiques opening up in Phoenix, and I can't wait to stop by this one, especially since it's right next door to another favorite, Mercantile.

gemeg jewelry.

I'm so excited about the launch of GEMEG Jewelry, by local Scottsdale-based designer (and gorgeous model!) Amanda Shoemaker. Inspired by Arizona’s desert landscape and native culture, each piece is one-of-a-kind and really beautiful. This takes my love of gems and minerals to a whole new level.

See more here - and look out for rings coming soon. All photos from GEMEG.

After fighting it for so long, the last few years have seen me embracing the southwestern imagery that is everywhere here in AZ.

These shoe clips by No. 144 dress up even the simplest pair of flats. Love the little pops of color (and that they are local!)

seesaw: st. francis website.

We sure love our restaurant clients...

Just launched a brand new website for St. Francis. If you live in the Phoenix area and haven't been there yet, go! The food is amazing and the architecture is worth the trip alone.

Thank you, Aaron, for being so great to work with. (And for the incredibly delicious desserts that made our way to the table each time we visited ;)

words and inspiration.

We had a crazy week, full of lots of inspiration from the second annual Phoenix Design Week: Forward. Speakers included Von Glitschka, Hillman Curtis, Paul Sahre and James Victore. We also picked up a copy of Victore's "Victore: or, Who Died and Made you Boss?" Love his bold use of type and color, and the shiny black edges of the book.

forward.

Phoenix Design Week all weekend long - we are pretty excited! Registration closes October 2 so hurry and get your tickets. Thank you AIGA and Dojo for making it happen.

feeling the need for flowers.

Lately I can't get enough of flowers. I want pretty arrangements in every room of my house (and at the office too, for that matter)... maybe I need to start making a weekly trip to the farmer's market for fresh flowers like Joy does. Do any of you make a habit of bringing fresh flowers inside your home?

For locals, have you been to Camelback Flowershop? I really love that place.

urban wonder.

Our good friend Christine (and her family & cohorts) put on this beautiful urban picnic. Everything is just right - even the adorable munchkin.

(P.S. Keep an eye on Christine's blog - a transformation is in the works!)
