string shelving.

We've been trying to tackle the shelving situation in our office (again) and I keep coming back to the simplicity and flexibility of the string shelf system designed by architect Nisse Strinning in 1949. I want.

I'm in love with this. You have caught me in a mood where I want to get rid of everything and organize what is left.

Can you buy these new in the states? Judging by their website, it doesn't look like they have distribution in the US. Am I missing something? I love these shelves!

The new EKBY GÄLLÖ shelving system at Ikea is kind of a modern take on the classic string shelves. Not as many pieces are available but with some imagination we're turning them into a full wall shelving system- and they're cheap.
They obviously won't match the vintage ones but you can always do what we're doing and keep the new ones and vintage ones in different rooms!
